Back Links

Back links are simply links to your website from other websites. The more and the higher quality your back links are the greater your search ranking will be with Google. of course this is not the only factor.

There are many who say you have to get back links from relevant sites but I have reason to differ. Some of my sites have back links from totally unrelated sites, yet the sheer magnitude seems to be very effective in giving me high rankings.

Back links are hardly the biggest determining factor in your sites Google rankings but you better believe they are important.

There are many ways to acquire back links. One of my favorites is sending high quality link trade requests to related sites that are not competition.

For example if you sell horses on your website you might send e-mails to horse feed shop sites requesting a link trade. I know this is just an example but it gets the point across. As long as the horse feed shop doesn't sell horses or even the type of horses you sell you have a common non conflicting interest. By trading links you both get a back link which only helps improve both of your Google rankings.

One thing to keep in mind is to try and avoid trading links with low quality or low ranking sites.

You also want to make remarks about how nice or lovely their site is. Point out how your interests are similar yet un-conflicting and how the trade could blossom into a great marketing relationship. Flattery and sharing your knowledge will get you much farther than simply begging for a trade. Make sure the message is well written with no mistakes. Include their website address in the message. This not only personalizes the message it helps you remember who you are trading with when they reply.

You should scour the internet looking for these types of sites and sending all sorts of link trade requests out.

There are also link trade sites that help you find quality and qualified linking partners.

Link trading increases your search rankings and brings traffic in from the sites you trade with as well. This is probably the earliest form of generating organic traffic.
