Quite often
you will find that a prominent web site
with a high Google ranking won't be
interested in trading links with a new
website no matter how nice it looks.
What you can do is offer to pay the
website owner to place a link or banner
on their site that directs their
visitors to your site. This will take
some thinking out. You know you won't
get your competition to even think of
doing this. You should find a site that
is relevant to your site but not your
competition. This will not only get your
website indexed but will also give your
site a higher ranking because a high
ranking site is recommending your site
to it's visitors. Google being the big
daddy of all search engines uses this as
one of the methods to evaluate your
site.
Pay per click
ads are expensive and highly
competitive. In most cases you are
better off just paying a high ranked
site $100 or even more to add a link to
your site. If you can ask for a text
link with a nice description of your
site. Write the description yourself and
make sure it doesn't offend or compete
in any way with the site you are seeking
to do business with.
Avoid those
free or pay search engine submission
sites. Often submitting your website to
Google through those submission sites
can actually damage your site rankings!
Remember Google is affiliated with many
of the older search engines and
submitting to those engines may also
adversely affect your search engine
rankings.
There are
companies who offer SEO (Search Engine
Optimization) services. Some do a great
job and others are there to do nothing
more than take your money.
Before you even begin to design your
site here are things you should know
about making your site "search engine
friendly". If you don't use these
tactics your site will likely end up
buried deep in the ranks. You want your
site to be on the first page or 2 of a
search query. Sometimes page 3 or 4 is
ok if your market is completely
saturated.
Even if the
market is saturated there are some
tricks you can do to get search engine
traffic. This involves keyword research.
To do this you need to know what terms
people use to search for the product,
service or topic your website is about.
What you do is find those niche search
phrases and keywords that most of your
competition isn't using.
There is an
excellent tool to do that and it's
totally invaluable. It's called
Micro Niche Finder. Not only does
this tool find those Niche keywords and
phrases in saturated markets it finds
them in all markets. You can find out
what people type into search engines and
build your web page or site around that
phrase or keyword. This results in
excellent Google rankings!
Lets say you
want to make a site about your lawn care
business. Before you purchase a URL
(website address) you want to have the
words "lawn" and "care" in your URL.
This is very important. Search engines
especially Google seek out this
criteria. They place high emphasis on
the keywords in your URL. The closer the
keywords are to "www" the higher rank
they place on that criteria. Try to
purchase a URL or Domain Name (the same
thing) that is short and easy to
remember. This will take some
creativity. You can bet beyond the
shadow of a doubt that www.lawncare.com
was purchased long ago. You don't want
to purchase a dot net or dot info URL,
you want a dot com URL. People remember
dot com but will easily forget about dot
tv or dot net . So what do you do when
www.lawncare.com is taken? You look for
that niche phrase you are building your
site around. Lets say there are 22,333
searches per month for the phrase best
lawn care and only 10 sites using that
exact phrase. Look and see if
www.bestlawncare.com is already taken.
There is the possibility it's also
taken. But what if you try this,
bestlawncare101.com. There is a better
possibility this URL is available. If
not be creative and think of something
similar. You can be creative in at least
2 different ways when approaching this
highly common scenario. Believe it or
not creating a successful website begins
right where it all begins. Just like
building a house you have to have a
strong foundation. Let us also not
forget the three word saying, "location,
location, location". Keep both of these
issues in mind when selecting a domain
name. |
